ESTABLISHMENT
JEIS was accepted as a PESCO Project in November 2018 in accordance with the 1797/19 decision of the EU Council. Greece is the leading nation and Cyprus participates as a full member, while the project is also supported by the Netherlands, Hungary, Portugal and Lithuania, under the status of observers. In 2020 the Hellenic Joint Intelligence School (HJIS) joined the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) partners network in order to initiate the cooperation and coordination with the College that will serve as the guide for the future collaboration between ESDC and JEIS. Within this framework, HJIS organized and delivered 16 intelligence courses exclusively for EU personnel between 2021 and 2025. JEIS was officially established on 18 February 2025 and organized the first course on 9 March 2026.
